I was in Bucharest/Romania for 3 days. Obviously, I couldn’t keep myself too far away from a food store or from my parents fridge, as they always keep some good food stuff in there.
So, from the food store I bought “cașcaval afumat împletit” (3,20 euro = 500 grams) - a braided smoked kashkaval. And from my parents fridge I “borrowed” a very traditional cheese from Romanian mountains, “Brînză de burduf în coajă de brad” - a pungent cheese cured in fir tree bark (the most common kind is cured in the cow’s stomach). Until March this year, before moving to Ireland, I believed that I lived in the “Potatoes Country”:)). But here I am in Ireland and, mighty surprise, the potato strikes again! This time, harder:)). Everywhere you eat, you must have potatoes: mashed potatoes, fried potatoes, baked potatoes, potatoes salad, boiled potatoes……
I’m wondering when I’ll have my “potato stake”:). For example, I went to a very respectable restaurant a few days ago and along with the stake there were boiled potatoes, baked potatoes and potatoes vodka. Eat the rest of this entry »
