REVIEW: Johnnie Fox’s Pub, Glencullen

Date September 15, 2008

citat.jpgexterior.jpgA trip from Dublin City to Glencullen Mountains is just great whenever, but it’s more spectacular when your car drives you to Johnnie Fox’s Pub (”The Highest Pub in Ireland“).

I must say that it was a windy & foggy evening when we arrived at Johnnie. Lucky me that I’m not a smoker:). So, after a few steps through different spaces in the pub, a “son” of Johnnie finnaly got a table for us, four hungry people.
A cold beer, a short look inside in the menu, the fireplace was warming up the room. Could have been better for the beginning?

Our table (4 adults):

froglegs.jpgswordfish.jpgFrog Legs (Succulent and very tasty, pan fried in garlic butter) - 11,95 euro

Swordfish Steak (A thick fillet of marinated prime swordfish branded and pan roasted) - 21,95 euro

creveti.jpghalfduck.jpgRoasted Half Duck “Champagne” (Slow roasted tender boneless half duck in secret marinade, perfectly complimented with rich and velvety champagne and grape sauce, finished with a selection of vegetables & potatoes) - 21,95 euro
Pan Fried Tiger Prawns (Prepared in fresh garlic and basil butter served with seasonal fresh vegetables and potatoes) - 21,95 euro

Bonus: Great craic; definitely, you should go in the winter when it’s absolutely freezing outside, just to take advantage of the very nice fireplace.

ROMAN’S MARK: 9.20/10
